Dear Lady. Ann:
This may be a longer letter, but I really need some advice. Back in 2018 I met a guy through one of my best friends. He’s Her brother. I went home with her for Easter, and I really hit it off with her brother. However, when I went back home, he didn’t message me at all. I prayed and prayed for him for about four months. I actually wrote everything down in a journal, because when I pray, I journal. I prayed for him to message me if it would be God‘s will for us to talk, and I also prayed for things like his purity, his spiritual life, and his job and schoolwork. One day his sister and I were talking, and she said he wasn’t really interested in having a girlfriend at this point because he was in school and working a full-time job. So I stopped praying for him and moved on.
About a month ago I got a random message from him and we’ve been talking ever since. He has graduated from college, and has a stable job. He said up front that he wants to be friends, and nothing more. But that was a month ago and our relationship has developed since then. We spend hours on the phone, (I’m talking like 2+ hours every time we talk) and text each other all day long. He also drove 5 hours to hang out with me when I moved across the country. I’m starting to think that this is turning into more than just a friendship. And the fact that it happened out of the blue, makes me wonder if this is God‘s providence. I just don’t want to get my hopes up if it is actually only a friendship. What do you think?
