Was I Wrong For Checking On Him?

Dear Lady. Ann:

I have a friend that I really like a whole lot. He has told me he has feelings for me too, but he is currently not ready for a committed relationship yet. But he still wants us to be friends and see how things go. I don’t mind that because not only do I love him, he is actually worth the wait for me. But something happened recently that made him end our friendship.

He was down with the flu and had to stay home for a couple of days. I knew how bad he was feeling and I really wanted to be there for him. So I made his favorite meal and some soup and took it over to his house. I initially called him on my way out of the house but he didn’t pick up his phone so I went ahead. When I got to his place, he was home. When he opened the door, he sounded so pissed. He asked why I didn’t tell him before coming, I told him I tried reaching him. He said he did not like the fact that I felt comfortable just showing up at his place without asking him first. And because he assumes I might be getting carried away, he asked that we no longer stay in contact with each other for now. I ended up dropping the food and walking away. I am so broken, please how do I restore this relationship?
