My Boyfriend Is Having A Hard Time With Abstinence

Dear Lady. Ann:

I am a young adult who just got into my first relationship 7 months ago. We are really happy together and we really do believe that God brought us together. He treats me like a princess, prays for us daily, and always points me to God when I’m upset. Unfortunately, he lives halfway across the country from me, and we miss each other terribly. We have visited each other multiple times, but during those visits, we ended up having sex. We want to get married but he is having a really hard time with abstinence. He says he already sees me as his wife. The only reason I won’t marry him now is because I really want to have an actual, small wedding instead of going to the courthouse. I just could use some guidance on how to help him, and some Biblical advice on why we can’t live together or have sex before we’re married, even though we plan to be with each other as long as the Lord keeps us here on Earth. I don’t want to dishonor the Lord. Thank you kindly.

Sincerely,
Long Distance Love
