Dear Lady. Ann:
My baby daddy used to be really active in our daughter’s life till he moved far away with his new girl friend. Now, he makes constant excuses as to why he can’t be so active anymore. My daughter was so attached to him, so his absence has really broken her. Now she is constantly causing trouble in school, and I know it’s her way of expressing how she feels about her father’s absence. I feel so helpless because he is not willing to make any more. He keeps insisting our daughter’s behavior has nothing to do with him but my parenting skills. That makes no sense when my daughter is constantly asking for him. I hate feeling so helpless and I don’t know what else to do.
